In the song and video Downtown, Macklemore describes a woman who isn’t afraid of being herself. Her hair is in the style Mariah Carey wore in 1988 and she is wearing “Mom jeans.” The gist of this part of the song and video is that she is still cool. It takes guts to be who you are! What it comes right down to is it’s yourself that you have to please. Don’t be afraid to step at least a little outside of your box! Letting other people box you in pretty much results in feeling claustrophobic. Remember, you’ll never be anyone else as successfully as you can be yourself!
